Newark Central School District

Every Student, Every Day

Volunteer Program

Volunteer Program Overview

The Newark Central School District values the vital role that volunteers play in enriching the educational experience for all students. Our volunteer program is designed to enhance instruction, build strong school-community connections, and promote greater involvement in the educational process.

Purpose of the Volunteer Program:

  • Support Instruction: Provide teachers and staff with additional support to help personalize and enrich student learning.
  • Foster Community Engagement: Encourage community members to learn more about our schools and take an active role in supporting public education.
  • Strengthen School-Community Relationships: Create meaningful opportunities for positive participation that benefit both students and volunteers.

Volunteers work alongside principals, teachers, and staff to assist with a variety of programs and activities. While volunteers are not paid and do not receive employee benefits, they are covered under the District’s liability insurance policy for their protection.

Getting Started:

To become a volunteer, individuals must complete a volunteer application, which is reviewed by the District Volunteer Coordinator. Upon verification of references and approval, building principals are notified and take responsibility for volunteer placement and supervision.

Please note: Final approval of all volunteer applications is at the discretion of the Superintendent.
