Child and Teen Safety Matters

Erin’s Law is a federal mandate requiring all public schools to provide students in grades K–12 with a prevention-focused curriculum that teaches personal body safety and addresses the prevention of sexual abuse.

To fulfill this important requirement, Newark Central School District has partnered with the Bivona Child Advocacy Center and the Monique Burr Foundation to implement Child and Teen Safety Matters—an evidence-based program that educates students on personal safety, sexual abuse prevention, bullying, exploitation, and other forms of child victimization.

This curriculum is delivered annually to all K–12 students by trained members of our Behavioral Health Team. Each grade level receives age-appropriate lessons designed to create a safe, supportive learning environment where students can explore and understand these important topics.
