The District consists of over 5 buildings, the bus garage and district office building located in the heart of Newark. Legal Notice - Solid Waste and Recycling Removal Bid
The Newark Central School District is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to provide solid waste and recycling removal services for all district facilities. This bid covers regular trash, recycling, and cardboard collection at school buildings and district sites, including the delivery, maintenance, and scheduled servicing of dumpsters and containers.
Services will be provided during the 2026 contract period and must meet all district specifications, New York State regulations, insurance requirements, and prevailing wage laws. Bids are evaluated based on responsiveness, qualifications, and overall value to the District, with the award made upon Board of Education approval.

Lead Testing of School Drinking Water
Ensuring safe drinking water in schools is vital for student health and development. In New York State, all public schools and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) are mandated to test potable water outlets for lead and take action if lead levels exceed 5 parts per billion (ppb).
Key Requirements:
- Action Level: The threshold for lead in drinking water is set at 5 ppb, reduced from the previous 15 ppb.
- Testing Schedule: Compliance testing must occur every three years.
- Scope of Testing: All water outlets used, or potentially used, for drinking or cooking must be tested, including those in buildings previously considered "lead-free."
Procedures Upon Exceedance:
- Immediate Action: Outlets exceeding 5 ppb must be taken out of service for drinking or cooking purposes.
- Remediation: Schools are required to implement a remediation action plan and conduct post-remediation testing to ensure safety.
- Communication: Test results and any remediation plans must be publicly accessible and posted on the school's website.

- Regular cleaning of aerators.
- Routine flushing of water systems, especially after periods of inactivity.
- Using only certified lead-free plumbing materials.
- Educating staff and students to run water for 30-60 seconds or until it feels cold before use.
