At Newark Central School District, we believe technology is a powerful tool to prepare students for the future. Our 2022–2025 Instructional Technology Plan outlines a clear vision to expand access, deepen learning, and build capacity for effective technology use across our schools.

Vision & Purpose

This plan focuses on ensuring that every student—regardless of grade level, background, or ability—has access to the tools, skills, and learning experiences needed to thrive in a digital world. Rooted in our mission to “educate and engage today to empower tomorrow,” the plan supports teaching and learning that’s equitable, effective, and forward-thinking.

Key Goals

  1. Increase Effective Use of Technology
    Align professional learning and technology integration with district instructional goals, supported by data, planning, and collaboration.

  2. Prepare Students for the Global Workforce
    Implement digital citizenship education, embed computer science standards, and expand career exploration opportunities starting in elementary school.

  3. Ensure Equitable Access
    Bridge the digital divide by investigating internet access needs, enhancing software evaluation processes, and promoting accessibility for all learners.
     

Plan Highlights

  • 1:1 Device Expansion: Full implementation across grades K–12 by the 2024–25 school year.
  • Professional Learning: A robust PD plan for teachers, driven by real-time usage data and walkthrough insights.
  • Digital Citizenship: A district-wide curriculum to promote safe, respectful, and responsible use of technology.
  • Support for All Learners: Tools and training to meet the needs of students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and students experiencing housing insecurity.
  • Data-Informed Decisions: A software evaluation system to ensure all tech investments align with instructional priorities and compliance standards.
     

Infrastructure & Investment

Over $4 million will be invested over three years in software, devices, peripherals, and network upgrades to support this plan. We also maintain strong partnerships with Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES to ensure our systems remain secure, scalable, and up-to-date.

Technology for All

This plan emphasizes inclusivity—providing culturally responsive learning environments, support for families, and equitable access to devices and internet outside of school. It also promotes collaboration, creativity, and real-world skill development through blended learning, online platforms, and interactive projects.
