View of Band Concert

More than 220 grades 4-12 Newark Central School
District musicians filled the Newark High School
gymnasium with music March 8th “Cavalcade of Bands”
concert.

More than 400 in the audience heard:
• The NHS Concert Band and Wind Ensemble
conducted by Robert Humphrey, the instrumental music
teacher at NHS, each perform two selections.

• The Kelley School combined Fourth and Fifth
Grade Band. Because Kelley School instrumental music
teacher Cynthia Briggs was unable to attend, Humphrey
and Rebekah Valerio, instrumental music teacher at
Newark Middle School, each took turns conducting one of
two selections performed by the band.

• The Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands from
NMS conducted by Valerio, each perform two selections.
“In 2020, the “Cavalcade of Bands” was the first
concert COVID-19 took out so it was really nice to be back,’’
Humphrey said later.

This is such a special concert when
you have all the instrumental students in grades 4-12
performing in one night. It was a great night. Lots of proud
parents.”

The grades 4-12 “Festival of Song” Choral Concert
will be held March 15th at 7 p.m. in the NHS auditorium.
