Russ Harris, who was elected to his eighth, three-year-term on the Newark Central School District Board of Education May 19th in 2023 was re-elected President of the BOE for 2026-27 at the annual reorganizational meeting July 8th.

Harris, who served as BOE President in 2025-26, also served on the BOE from 1993 until 2003. He was BOE Vice President during the during the 2015-16 and 1999-2000 school years and served as President of the BOE for five consecutive school years: 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Steven DeRenzo, who won his second, three-year term on the BOE May 19th, was elected Vice President for 2026-27.
