The proposed 2026-27 Newark Central School District budget passed May 19th by a vote of 293 to 111.

The bus purchase proposition passed by a vote of 302 to 103.
Also in the election, two, three-year terms on the Board of Education were won by incumbents Steven DeRenzo with 284 votes and Russ Harris with 277 votes.
Harris, who has served as President of the Board of Education for the 2025-26 school year, was elected to his eighth, three-year-term on the Newark Central School District Board of Education. DeRenzo was elected to this second, three-year term.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who were able to vote today, as our budget passed by 72.5%, Superintendent Susan Hasenauer said after the vote.
“I would also like to welcome Steve DeRenzo and Russell Harris back to the Board of Education.”
