A Kansas native who moved with his family to Macedon when he was 5 and graduated from Palmyra-Macedon High School, Buckley is replacing Joe Canori who left the job June 30th.

The Newark Board of Education July 9th approved his hiring effective August 4th when he will begin working at NHS with Principal Kelly A. Zielke and Assistant Principal Emily Schmitt.

"I am excited for this transition and am fortunate to be able to join the administrative team at Newark High School. I look forward to being a part of the community and working with the staff, students and parents to continue building on the great work already in place."

“I am excited to begin working with Tim,” Zielke said. “He brings years of teaching experience and a fresh perspective on administration. We are looking forward to creating a team approach to support the students, staff and families at the high school.”

“We would like to welcome Mr. Buckley to the High School and back to the area,” said Superintendent Susan Hasenauer. “We are excited for him to begin and believe his experience in creating alternative pathways to graduation in the Arts can contribute to the success and enhance the experiences our students have to earn recognition for their achievements in music through various assessments.”

Buckley worked right out of college as a substitute teacher in the Newark Central School District before he was hired to teach General Music at the Robert J. Kaiser Middle School in Monticello in 2007. His myriad duties as a music educator there have included working with all grade levels in the district through directing choruses and producing and directing 10 district-wide performances.

Buckley earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music; his Master’s of Science Degree in Instructional Technology for Education from New York Institute of Technology and his Certificate in Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from SUNY New Paltz.

He and his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Amelia look forward to moving back to the Wayne County area and “becoming part of this wonderful community of Newark.”
