High School and Middle School students, parents, guardians and community members were encouraged, in advance, to attend the 90-minute fair to learn more about careers, as well as college opportunities in the area.

Julia Solan, NCSD Family Outreach Coordinator and Newark Middle School Counselor Jessica Orchard planned the event.

The 2nd Annual Career Fair provided a unique space for students and families to connect with local businesses, industries, military recruits and colleges. Students and families were able to engage in conversations with the vendors through the conversation bingo board which allowed for students to dig deeper into career pathways available to them. We also had Danielle McGavisk, NHS School Counselor, and Kevin Meehan from Finger Lakes Community Action provide a resume building workshop where students were able to create or polish their resumes. Wegmans provided mock interviews for individuals to go through an interview process and receive feedback! All in all it was another great event that brought students, families, and community together, which is our biggest goal! We are looking forward to next year's event.”

Orchard, who shared similar thoughts about the event, also noted the NYS Department of Labor even had a virtual reality headset students could use to learn what is involved in various occupations.
