Johnson, who lives in North Rose, is replacing Sheila Ditmar who retired July 31st after 9 years as Director of Transportation for the NCSD and who has served as Interim Director of Transportation since then. Helping Johnson to get acclimated to her new job, Dittmar’s last day here will be October 31st.

“The Newark Central School District is excited to have Tracy join us. With her vast experiences both in public schools and private transportation, she brings a wide range of transportation knowledge to the position,” said Ed Gnau, Assistant Superintendent for Business.

Johnson’s duties on her new job are vast and include dispatching, routing, training, scheduling, answering tons of phone calls and even being a substitute bus driver if need be. She currently oversees 42 employees in the department _ 22 bus drivers, 11 monitors, 6 substitute drivers and 2 mechanics.

“I’m actually loving it,’’ she said Oct. 24th. “I’ve been working for a contract busing company and have wanted to get back into a school system. The staff here is great and has been very welcoming.”

A graduate of Cato-Meridian High School, Johnson and her husband of 33 years, John Johnson, who works at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, have three grown sons.
