Board of Education election Winners

The proposed 2023-24 Newark Central School District budget passed May 16th by a vote of 249 to 124.

The bus purchase proposition passed by a vote of 275 to 95.

Also in the election, two, three-year terms on the Board of Education were won by newcomer Steven DeRenzo with 265 votes and incumbent Russell Harris with 261 votes.

After the results were tallied May 16th, Superintendent Susan Hasenauer congratulated and thanked Harris and DeRenzo for running for seats on the BOE. The 2023-24 terms on the BOE begin July 1st.

I want to thank Russ Harris for his ongoing and extraordinary commitment to education and willingness to continue to serve on the Board of Education for a seventh, consecutive three-year term. My thanks also go to Steven DeRenzo for his desire to serve on the Board for the first time. I look forward to working with both of you in the years ahead.”

Hasenauer also expressed great appreciation for the ongoing support by district voters of the NCSD educational program and thanked everyone that voted.
