As part of their annual 100th day of the school year celebration February 14th, Perkins School children and staff donated items to the Humane Society of Wayne County.
Mark Plyter, HSWC Executive Director came to the school Feb.16th to collect items that included various cleaning supplies, dog and cat treats, dog and cat food, paper towels, and more.
“We are so happy to be able to support the Humane Society again this year. One of our building commitments is family and community engagement. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to see how they can positively impact the Newark community,” Perkins Principal Pete Czerkas said.
Plyter graciously accepted the contributions, noting Perkins School’s efforts each year to support the HSWC are so appreciated.
The drive was organized by the 100th Day Celebration Committee that included: Second grade teachers Jessica Bittner and Sara Beth Stachura; Math AIS providers Jamie Yonker and Jessica Herendeen and Kelly Faust, a Kindergarten special education teacher.
