Adapted from the beloved series by L.M. Montgomery, the play chronicles the adventures of 11-year-old Anne Shirley, an imaginative and spirited orphan girl, as she adjusts to her life with the sister and brother team of Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert at Green Gables in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
“Anne of Green Gables” is
a personal favorite of mine,” said Director Emily Howard, an English 11 teacher at NHS. “I am excited to bring this sentimental piece of literature to life on the NHS stage. The play features an eclectic mix of characters that will give our actors great opportunities for growth and development.
“I hope audiences will enjoy this classic tale,” Howard continued. “It’s been fun seeing well known characters come to life with our actor’s interpretations. My goal is to have our audiences leave the theatre with a happy feeling. As always, I am immensely proud of the work of our cast and crew. Witnessing their growth year after year is something truly special.”
