Data Privacy and Security - Information and Resources

Newark Central School District is committed to the continuous improvement of our data privacy and security practice. We are taking steps to implement Ed. Law 2-D and Part 121 of the regulations which require that schools protect student personally identifiable information (PII) and confidential information associated with the teacher and principal annual professional performance review (APPR) process.

This work includes:

  • Protecting student PII and confidential APPR information as mentioned above

  • Streamlining our software purchasing process to ensure vendors we purchase from are Ed. Law 2-D compliant

  • Appointing a Data Protection Officer to oversee the compliance process

  • Providing annual data privacy and security training to all employees with access to PII and/or APPR data

  • Posting the Parents' Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security

  • Adopting and posting data security and privacy policies and procedures
