2026 Arcadian dedicated to Mark Eakins

Mark Eakins, who was clearly moved by the dedication June 11th, briefly, but appreciatively thanked students for the recognition at the early morning assembly.

Later, he said: “It is an incredible honor to be chosen for this year's yearbook dedication. It has been nice to hear the congratulations from my students and fellow staff members. I would also like to thank my wife, Lisa, and department members for their support, wisdom, and humor all these years.

Eakins, a Lewiston, N.Y. native, started teaching in the Keshequa Central School District in 1993 before coming to Newark in 1999.

He received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Geneseo and his graduate degrees in history and secondary education there.

Also during his time in Newark, he has been a Student Council advisor, Unified Bowling Coach, and raised money for the annual NTA Teacher Scholarship.

Eakins will also be the Class of 2026 commencement speaker June 26th.
