Visitor Management System

The school district uses the Hall Pass Management System in all of our schools to help strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty.  Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Hall Pass system will allow us to do that.  The system allows us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.

Visitors are required to show photo identification upon entering any Newark school. This step is necessary even if the person is well known to the staff members who greet them. The photo is scanned, stored, and printed on a badge that must be worn for duration of the visit. The badge will indicate the date, visitor’s name, and a specific school location, depending on the reason for coming to the building. Once the photo is scanned and stored, it will be accessible when visiting any Newark school.

  • In keeping with the district’s long-established policy, please remember to bring a valid form of photo identification, such as a driver’s license, to the school when you visit.

This additional security step is one of the many ways Newark continues to refine school safety. Each school has a building-specific plan that staff members are trained to activate and implement in case of emergency. We continue to partner with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and local fire and ambulance crews to prepare for emergencies.

In addition, the district offers a Safety Tip Line (359-7867 or 359-STOP), which allows any community member to report situations that may pose a threat to the safety or well being of students, staff members, or school property. The tip line is monitored regularly and all calls remain confidential.
