Child and Teen Safety Matters

Erin’s Law is Federal mandate that requires all public schools to teach students in grades K-12 a prevention curriculum that addresses personal body safety and sexual abuse. The Newark CSD is partnering with the Bivona Child Advocacy Center and The Monique Burr Foundation to implement an evidence-based prevention curriculum that addresses various topics that address Erin's Law, bullying, sexploitation, and other types of child victimization through the Child and Teen Safety Matters course.

This curriculum will be implemented in grades K-12 by trained Behavioral Health Team members. Each grade level has a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and allows students to learn about personal safety in a comfortable environment annually.

To prepare parent(s)/guardian(s) and families with conversations and questions students may ask at home, below are a list of resources provided by Bivona and the Monique Burr Foundation.
