Congratulations to Rick Nichols (NHS Class of 2000) on being inducted into the Section V Swimming & Diving Hall of Fame – Class of 2025!
During his time at Newark, Rick made waves as a 4-time League Champion, 4-time Sectional Champion, and set multiple records in the pool – including a Class B Sectional Record in the 100 Free (46.87) that stood for years. He was also a 2-time Class B Swimmer of the Meet, a 12-time All-American consideration swimmer, and held nearly every school record from freestyle to relays.
Beyond high school, Rick went on to earn gold at the Empire State Games, became a National Champion in the 100 Free, was named Mercersburg Academy Swimmer of the Year (2000), and later earned recognition as Michigan State University Freshman of the Year (2001).
We are proud to celebrate this outstanding Red Raider alum and his lasting legacy in the pool. 🦊
