Hello NCSD Families,
This will be my second year as the Family Outreach Coordinator for Newark CSD! My experience with Newark has been wonderful so far. I love engaging with and learning from our families, students, and our community. During my time here at Newark, I have worked with families, grades K-12, locate resources throughout the community; whether that is finding a program for a student, providing information to parent's about services or allocating resources to homeless families. I have also worked with each of the buildings in the district to help increase family and community engagement through the District's Tenet VI initiative.
Adding to that, I have facilitated an afterschool program with our Middle School students and a Mentoring Program at both the Middle School and Kelley School. This program is where High School students mentored younger students to form positive relationships. I have worked with the HS students in the IT'S REAL Group - run by Danielle Ohlson - and have worked with students of color throughout the district by maximizing their opportunities for growth socially and emotionally. Also, I have led a summer program for at-risk students, and have helped coordinate students to attend.
I graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2016 with a Degree in Sociology and I am now currently working towards my Master of Clinical Social Work Degree through Keuka College. I truly enjoy making connections with our students and our families and I am fully committed to working with our NCSD Community.
If you have any questions about myself or my program, please feel free to contact me through email or phone.
I look forward to continuing my work with the Newark community!
Food assistance for Christmas:
As the Holiday's are approaching, I wanted to send information about local agencies, businesses, and churches that are helping out with holiday meals. Below are a few places that are helping out this year:
Emmanuel Methodist Church in Newark is offering a free Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving 11-22-18 at noon. Walk-ins welcome. If you can contact them to let them know how many people are attending that would be great! If not, that is okay too.
Salvation Army in Canandaigua. 110 Saltonstall Ave. Free Thanksgiving Dinner, eat in or pick up on 11-22-18 at noon.Families have to call ahead to let them know how many people are attending as well and if it is for pick-up or eat in. 585-394-6968
The Newark Food Closet is also another resource families can utilize. If you already go to the Food Closet, they give residents extra food for the Holidays during the months of November and December.
Lyons Community Center will be having a community meal that is open to the public on Tuesday at 5 PM.
If you have any questions please let me know!
