    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Lincoln School will celebrate our annual Bookworm Bash beginning at our Farewell Friday on October 12th , and continuing through  Monday, October 22.

Everyone is invited to join us during our reading week as we strive to reach our school goal-to read 2,000 books during Bookworm Bash Week.  We have a busy week planned.  A Book Fair will be held the week of October 15-19.  Classes will be visiting the Newark Public Library.  On Wednesday, Jay Stetzer, a performing artist, will be coming to Lincoln School to present the program Make Worlds from Words. Each day students will gather in the halls for DEAR  (Drop Everything And Read) time.

Rocket into Reading Night is Monday, October 22, 6:15- 7:30 p.m. This is our family night and we have many fun activities planned. Again this year, the Newark Kiwanis Club has generously donated a book for each child.  The books will be given out at the beginning of our Bookworm Bash week.  Our final celebration – a visit from the Star Lab (indoor star show) will be out of this World!

Please help your child by reading together at home each night.  For each book your child reads, or stories that are read to them, fill out a book slip (included with this letter) and return them to your child’s teacher.  The greatest reward is the fun you can have reading books together with your child.
